It gives you a vivid picture of the amount to spend on factors such as labour, tiles, hot tubs, showers and other extras. Looking into time helps you to decide when to purchase anything that is needed for the project, maybe a dumpster rental if your bathroom is going through a big renovation? Think outside the box and don’t miss anything out!

This is planning on how you want the bathroom to look like. It involves deciding on factors like colour, paint, the type of tiles and showers. You can do that by doing some research on luxury bathrooms design. In terms of functionality, consider who is going to be using that bathroom and how. When looking to decorate the bathroom afterwards, it might be worth visiting Target’s website to see if they have any bathroom products. If they do have anything you might need, be sure to check to see if they have any discounts that could be used to save some money.

Measurements and Workflow

You should have knowledge of the measurements of the bathroom. There are 3 limitations that make up the size of a bathroom. These include the overall size, the location of existing plumbing pipes and the basic dimensions of bathroom fixtures. The size will help you in creating a work sequence to prevent a lot of mistakes. A work sequence involves making a decision on where to start the renovation. This can be the ceiling, the walls, or the floors. However, starting at the top is always advisable.

Hidden long-term complications

When the renovation is done by a professional with a vast expertise, there are high chances that you won’t end up with zero problems. This shows how important you should hire a professional to do the work. Hidden problems such as water drainage damage may arise during the process which can be corrected by looking for structural deficiencies in the floor framing before that procedure. This could also be hidden problems like ventilation, most bathrooms have this installed when they are made to removed any excess moisture from the hot water coming from the bath/shower. Bijou Bathrooms

Why space should be no barrier to beautiful bathrooms

In our previous post, we mulled over the possibilities of giving your cloakroom, or second bathroom, a new lease of life. A nice bit of refurbishment work to get it kicking and screaming into the 2010s. For some households, their main bathroom can be the size of some residents’ secondary bathrooms.

Small can be beautiful; size shouldn’t be a barrier to creativity either. Hotel rooms around the world manage with bijou bathrooms in en suite rooms, as seen in our featured image. Fitting the quart into a pint pot is a challenge but an achievable one nonetheless.

We at Bespoke Bathroom Solutions have experience in this too. Throughout our neck of the woods are a fair number of Edwardian and Victorian properties. Many of them were built before bathrooms and indoor toilets became a standard feature. Therefore, some bathrooms may be small – the bulk of which taking up part of a bedroom.

One effective way of improving space in your bijou bathroom is the use of under the basin space. This could be used for storing bathroom supplies you don’t need at this very moment. A little niche could be created for storing soap, bubble bath, shampoo and the like. If you’re not too precious about your bathtub, you could replace it with a shower cubicle and gain some extra space.

If you wish to make your bathroom look bigger, go for light colour schemes. Make good use of mirrors and use natural light to your advantage.

Marble Wall Job

This client of Bespoke Bathroom Solutions was looking for a full refurbishment of a bathroom in a 17th Century Property. The brief was that the room should have a real unique wow factor using natural marble slabs on the walls and floor and should incorporate a feature niche and plenty of sparkle. As the walls of this room were not plumb or square it was essential to make sure that they were suitably prepared for the new wall finish. The room was fully stripped out and the wall plaster was removed back to sub-structure. The walls were then fully lined out plumb and square with external grade plywood incorporating voids for pipe-work, niche storage and concealed cistern frame. A metal frame ceiling was also built with a central recess to accept recessed lighting and a skimmed finish.

The new bathroom incorporated a bath of slightly reduced length, framed out for a marble bath panel. A walk in shower with a low level shower tray. A purpose built oak vanity unit with matching recessed mirrored storage above and a granite vanity top and conical vessel basin. A wall hung combined W.C & Bidet unit. The walls to the room were fully lined with Marble Slabs incorporating a arched niche cloaked with the Marble with glass shelves. Electric Thermostatic Controlled Under –Floor Heating & Granite tiles to the Floor. New low energy recessed LED lighting fitted with Dimmer Switch Control.
