5 Ways to Tell That You Need to Update Your Bathroom

Do you find yourself postponing a bathroom update? Bathroom renovations may seem costly, inconvenient, and time-consuming, but their advantages are many and range from lower bills to improved comfort levels. If you are not sure whether you should go for a bathroom update, have a look at these five signs that tell you it’s time to go ahead with it.

You are constantly having to deal with repairs

Just like in any other room of the house, tear and wear take its toll on bathroom fittings and fixtures. Sooner or later, most homeowners must deal with leaking faucets, chipped caulking, cracked tiles, dysfunctional plumbing, or blocked drains. It’s easy enough to look at this site, or somewhere similar, and find a plumber who can make these repairs or even carry them out yourself. However, if these little things start breaking down or needing repairs one after the other, it may be time to arrange a full bathroom renovation. Although a bathroom update may seem a lot of work, tackling the root of the problem at once is always more cost-efficient and convenient than having to deal with problems here and there.

Energy-inefficient fixtures

New technologies have changed the way we live and think about public and private spaces. This also applies to fixtures and fittings, and particularly to those related to plumbing and lighting. If you haven’t updated your bathroom fixtures in a while, chances are that they will not be up to date with the latest energy-efficiency guidelines. This translates into higher water and energy bills. Fortunately, a professional electrician, like those at, will be able to help you install new lighting fixtures so you’re up to date in terms of efficiency. Modern toilets, faucets, and shower heads can reduce water consumption by up to 70 per cent, whereas energy-saving lighting can help you use up to 95 per cent less electricity.

It feels cramped

If your bathroom feels cramped or you are constantly banging into cabinets and other fixtures, this is a clear sign that a bathroom update is overdue. Awkward corners, oddly shaped rooms, and inefficient layout usually lead to that uncomfortable cramped feeling. “But there isn’t enough space to change that”, you may be thinking. The truth is that good design is the key, and it may be even more important than the actual amount of space available. When designed, and installed by professionals, even the smallest bathrooms can feel uncrowded and roomy.

Your bathroom has become a functional space

Have you ever walked into a hotel room and felt amazed at its stylish bathroom? There are bathrooms that we use and bathrooms that we admire. Think about how your bathroom fits into this. Is it primarily a place you go in and out of? Modern bathrooms should not only be functional rooms, but also spaces where you can retreat to after a long and stressful day. Professionals that specialise in bespoke bathroom renovations can add a few remarkable features that make the space more pleasant and enjoyable, irrespective of your bathroom’s size. There’s nothing wrong with enjoying a little luxury at home!

It does not match the rest of your house d├ęcor

Over the years, you are likely to renovate or redecorate those rooms of the house where you spend a considerable amount of time, such as bedrooms, living rooms, or dining rooms. In some cases, this means that your bathroom will end up looking out of sync with the rest of the house. So, if you want to enjoy a harmonious feeling throughout your home, it may be the right time to arrange a bespoke bathroom installation.

It is obvious that remodelling your bathroom offers many benefits and can be more cost-effective than you think. Leave your bathroom update project in the hands of trusted professionals, and you will be pleased that you made this decision. If you have looked at these points and thought it applies to your own bathroom, maybe it is time to contact some professionals to talk through where you can go from there. Luckily there are a host of different plumbing companies out there catering to all sorts of areas. It is best to do your research online for your area. For instance, if you live in the state of California in or around Sacramento, you might want to see what is available to you locally, maybe check the reviews too. For example, a popular plumber in sacramento is more likely to carry out the job smoothly and quickly, according to its previous customers.

8 amazing tips you need to know for cleaning your bathroom

The bathroom is no longer the underrated afterthought it used to be. In many homes, a well-designed and stylishly appointed bathroom is a major point of pride. And why shouldn’t it be? It is the one room every member of the family – and any friends you may be entertaining in your home – will spend some time in eventually!

We at Bespoke Bathroom Solutions know you want your bathroom to be the luxurious refuge you dreamed of, and so we offer you these 8 amazing tips you need to know for cleaning your bathroom.

1. An Ounce of Prevention

A light daily cleaning will be more effective and less overwhelming than a deep cleaning every week or ten days. Take 5-10 minutes every day to spray your shower with cleaner and rinse it down, wipe around the sink and toilet, and quickly mop the floor. Antibacterial cleaning wipes are a quick and efficient way to get things done without having to haul out every cleaning supply in the house.

2. Eliminate Hard Water Stains

There is nothing more unattractive than a black ring in your toilet because of the mineral content in your water. Once a week, drop two denture cleaning tablets into the bowl, and swish with the toilet brush. The effect is miraculous!

3. Be Gentle

Keeping your bathroom sparkling doesn’t have to mean using harsh chemicals. Some people prefer to avoid bleach because of the harshness on their skin and the strong odour. We suggest a mild paste of baking soda and white vinegar to eliminate stains and clean grout between tiles.

4. Mildew

As mentioned above, cleaning grout is important. You can use the baking soda paste if you are especially sensitive to cleaning products, but we would recommend at least hydrogen peroxide, if not bleach. Grout is porous, and is a breeding ground for mildew and other bacteria. Mix one part bleach to ten parts water, and use a soft bristled brush to work into the grout. Re-seal grout annually.

5. Go With the Flow

Don’t put the vinegar away yet! Fill a medium freezer bag with it, and submerge your shower head into it, securing the bag with a rubber band. Obviously if your shower is detachable, you can you a small bucket. Let it sit overnight, then run the shower in the morning. This will help eliminate build up that reduces flow. If you’re looking to deal with the build-up in your drain, you may want to turn to a local plumbing service similar to Mac-Vik Plumbing and Heating ( that offers a drain cleaning service.

6. Breathe

The extractor fan in your bathroom collects a lot of moisture and bacteria, so don’t neglect it during the cleaning process. At least every 4-6 weeks, flip off the circuit breaker for the fan, remove the grate, and wipe down the blades and grate. When showering, keep the extractor fan at least an additional 30 minutes after the shower, or open a window. Increased air flow reduces humidity and eliminates the build up of airborne bacteria.

7. Don’t Put a Ring On It

Your bathtub is your refuge from the wild world outside, but bath products, and natural oil from skin leave a greasy, unattractive ring around the bath. Clean the bath immediately after using it, with hot water and a thick, mildly abrasive cleaning solution.

8. Down the Drain

Once a month, unclog your drains from the oil and hair that build up. If this is left to get worse then you will more than likely need to hire the help you can find on or another website alike. Start with tweezers to pluck out anything that can be reached. Then use a hardware store product or that good old-fashioned soda and vinegar solution. Let stand 10 minutes, and then pour boiling water down to clear. However, if you are not willing to take up so much of work, why not call for experts from plumbing service providers like Tom Moffett Plumbing?

Remember, keeping your beautiful bespoke bathroom clean and free of germs will allow it to remain a room you can be proud to show off.
